Botox® Injections Specialist In New Jersey
Top Botox Cosmetic® Consultation Princeton, NJ
Botox Cosmetic® is a FDA approved treatment to help relax wrinkles. It works as a neuromodulator, to help stop the local communication between nerves and muscles to help reduce the production of wrinkles. The most commonly treated areas for Botox® include the:
- Glabella (the space between the eyebrows)
- Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
- Forehead
While over 11 million people have used either Botox®, or the related product Dysport®, for the treatment of wrinkles, some patients still worry that they are “toxins” that can have deleterious health effects. Botulinum toxin is the active ingredient in both of these medications. While it is true that an overdose can be harmful, the Botox® dose where this can become an issue is over 100 times the amount typically injected. One syringe cannot store enough of the medication to produce a harmful effect, which is why the use of Botox® is safe, effective and FDA-approved to help reduce wrinkles. Botulinum toxin is also used to treat cervical dystonia headaches, excessive sweating, blepharospasm and strabismus.
As a dual board certified and fellowship trained Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Undavia has mastered the anatomical relationships of the face and realizes that safety is most important. Most patients interested in Botox® want a natural and youthful appearance, not a “frozen” look which appears artificial. Dr. Undavia will carefully measure the amount of Botox® needed for you, and prior to treating your wrinkles, will produce only the amount sufficient for treatment, and no more. This method helps Dr. Undavia put safety first by making sure there is not excess medication injected, and also allows him to individually tailor each Botox® treatment based on your unique facial features.
Procedure
This simple in-office procedure for the treatment of wrinkles via Botox® begins with the placement of ice or a numbing agent on the areas to be treated. Afterwards, Dr. Undavia will map out the location of the injections, after reviewing your individual muscle movement of the face. Then the Botox® injections are meticulously placed at the site of maximal muscle movement. A small amount of pressure is applied, and minimal bruising and swelling are seen. The Botox® results will typically take up to seven days to fully take effect, and last anywhere from three to six months. On the day of the injection, it is important not to massage the area injected, and not exercise. However, the following day, you can resume your normal activities.
Medical Conditions Botox Can Be Used For
Botox® is also commonly used to treat medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and chronic migraines. For those suffering from hyperhidrosis, Botox® injections are injected into the affected area of the body and block the release of acetylcholine which results in reduced sweating. Botox® can also be used to reduce chronic migraine headaches by relaxing overactive facial muscles that are thought to contribute to migraine pain. In both cases, Botox® injections have been shown to provide effective relief for a variety of medical conditions with minimal side effects.
In summary, Botox® has a wide range of applications and can help provide relief for certain medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis and chronic migraine headaches. It has also been used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, providing an alternative to more invasive cosmetic treatments. Ultimately, Botox® is an effective tool that can be used to treat a variety of medical issues in a safe and non-invasive way.

Dr. Undavia is by far the best doctor that I have had the pleasure of being treated by. His bedside manner is so comforting and his personality and kindness are all bonuses. He is confident, takes out extra time to reassurance you, and he has a solid reputation for a reason. He answers all questions and is non-judgmental and professional. Even his nurses were saying he was their favorite doctor to work with. 10/10 recommend!
When I decided to utilize cosmetic Botox to treat the lines between my eyebrows, I knew I only wanted the best practitioner. After extensive research, I decided to schedule with Dr. Undavia, who has been phenomenal. It was immediately obvious through my initial consultation that Dr. Undavia possessed an amazing level of expertise in this area. Instead of rushing through my visit, as so many practitioners who are pressed for time do, he took the time to understand my priorities, answer all my questions, and make sure I was well informed of the entire procedure and expected outcome. The results of the treatment far surpassed any expectations I had, and I have returned for subsequent visits and will continue to do so. Making the decision to seek out cosmetic treatments is not always done lightly, and can be driven by a number of different reasons; for anyone searching for a qualified, patient, expert practitioner I highly recommend Dr. Undavia. You will not be disappointed!
