How long does a facelift last?

How long will a facelift last?

This question comes up frequently. Before we answer this question, you should be aware that there are two different types of lifts that surgeons like myself perform:

    • Full facelift
    • Mini facelift, also known as a “mini lift”

So, how long will a facelift last?

A full facelift set the clock back seven to 10 years on the patient.

You will still continue to age. But that aging process of your face will appear as if it was seven to 10 years behind your actual age.

Tell me about a mini facelift.

A mini facelift is better for patients that need a small touch up. This is also known as a “mini lift”.

The results are less dramatic. A mini lift is better suited for two purposes:

    • Preventing face and skin from sagging.
    • Performing a mini touch up following a full facelift.

My personal concern with mini lifts is simple. Surgeons are just suspending your skin and not touching the underlying structure.

This means that six to 12 months after surgery the skin will begin sagging again. That kind of defeats the purpose!
